Fatality at Lundbreck

There was a drowning fatality at Lundbreck falls this Sunday during the river rendezvous. I wasn't there, and neither were any of the local boaters I know. I'm not sure on the exact details.

May Long Weekend

As usual, weather on the May long weekend was poor. However, there were a few brief spells of relatively windless, albeit cool moments. We took advantage of these and some free Grandparent baby sitting to head up an easy route on the Hump.

On Friday we took a moment to try a few easy routes on the information bureau. Baby complied for about 20 minutes.

It looks like a fair number of hikers are walking up to Bertha lake. There is still a fair bit of snow at elevation, so I suspect the terrain up near the lake will be quite snowy. The Iwaasa's and us walked up to Bertha Falls, and ate way too many BBQ hamburgers.

Guide Books

A good post over at Gripped about the future and history of guide books. Are they useful?

Oregon Trip

We are planning a 1-2 week get-a-way to Oregon during the July long weekend. In checking out the local hotsprings and beaches, I stumbled upon this site with some amazing photography. Some of these shots would look great in our living room!
