Hey scramblers! I'm moving to Waterton next month to work for Parks Canada and I don't know much about the area! I used to rock climb a bit-perpetual beginner, and i like exploring UP. Any starting advice? do you guys head out there in the summer much? I"ll check back here for a reply
My advice is to make sure not to wait for people to come to you. Put up a notice at the post office asking fir partners. A few of the wardens climb, but nothing very frequent. Setting up a top rope night at the information bureau as early as you can will be a great way to meet people. Some of the wardens used to do that in the past.
For scrambling, things depend on who you are able to find for partners and what sort of routes you find interesting.
Maybe I'll add a partners board post/wiki. I've never had much luck with that in the past but maybe I'll try again.
Send me your email. We have a brand new baby, and I am working through the summer, but we may take the little munchkin on some easy peaks depending on how I can rig up a comfy seat.
