Cameron Falls Day Use Area Redevelopment
Open House Aug 20 @ 4-6PM

Final Plans for the Cameron Falls Day Use Area Redevelopment will be
available to view at an open house at the Waterton Lakes Resort on August
20 from 4 to 6 p.m.

As a result of public review held in August 2008, the impact on the green
space has been minimized, the number of trees will be significantly
increased, and the parking area for large vehicles was reduced from the
original conceptual design to six large-vehicle parking stalls to
accommodate RVs, boat and horse trailers, or tour and school buses.

The detailed plans include:
o a new three-season washroom at the same location as the existing
summer-only facility,
o better defined parking stalls to use space more efficiently and
reduce accidental trespass on cabin lots,
o creation of an additional picnic area.

The project includes planting about three times the number of native trees
currently in the area (about 70 trees). These trees will replace the 20
trees and several shrubs lost during construction. These trees will also
replace aging trees which have not been replaced naturally due to the large
amount of foot traffic and wildlife use in the area. Native trees and
shrubs will be used to screen the washroom and large vehicle parking. The
overall loss of vegetated space for the new parking is approximately 1,900
square metres.
