Ice Opener 2005/2006?

I know it's hard to think ice when it's 18 above outside. Does anyone have any thoughts to this years ice opener? Maybe the first or second week of January or do we want to try for mid December again? I was looking at the Dec 6, 2003 pics from the opener and the ice was pretty decent.

Cheers, Scott

PS. Anyone have pictures from last years ice opener breakfast?

The first week of January would be ideal for all of use students.

That seems like a good time as well. January 7th at Quick and Dirty, unless we want to gamble with the wind at Drywood.

The only thing with drywood is the lack of space for toproping for a bunch of people. If we're thinking along the lines of something more techinical, experts might not be a bad idea. However, think about how many novice climbers showed up last year, so both drywood and experts won't be the best for that imo.

Also the approaches wouldnt be too attractive to the novice climber or spectators.

Happy New Year amigos.
Just checking in to make sure the Ice-Breaker is on for Saturday still. Not sure seeing the forecast is for plus 10 tomorrow. If it's still on I'll bring some Trango and Austri Alpin gear for everyone to demo. Also, we have a few gear specials at the shop (Rock Gear Inc.) now:
Trango Original Flexcams - $25 each
Trango Cinch - $60
Austri Alpin Tyrol P12 Crampons - $95 per set
Austri Alpin Siko FX ice screws (Awesome) - $45 each
Let me know if anyone needs (email me at aaron@climbingdistributors.com) any gear and I'll bring it along to the Fest.
Cheers - Aaron
