A few tidbits of information this morning. Last night while driving back from Cardston, there was quite a good fire by Belly River. It was up on Hanson's ranch, by the flaring well in front of Chief Mountain, just west of the Belly River Bridge. It was quite noticeable all the way from Hillspring. I was going to stop to take a picture, but was running low on gas after being diverted around Cardston due to a car accident, just north of the town toward Standoff. I would guess the front was about 300m long. It made for quite the spectacular Christmas lights.
Brian Baker of Tamarack mall is doing a large landscape makeover. The gas station is coming out, as well as all the concrete in the front. He is landscaping things quite a bit. The red paving stone is going to be used for the sidewalk. That means over the next few years the sidewalk in front of my house down to Pat's may end up being replaced.
It is rumored that the Pizza place may be moving next to the empty lot by Pat's. I understand that the neigbours in the current location weren't too happy about the noise at night. It was about 20 years ago when that loned was rezoned to be a crepe house.
Last night about 6 inches of fuffy white snow fell. Skiing up to Wall could be nice, however I am sure the road will need more base for those who value their ski edges.
Elk were out this morning on the pass creek flats. The deer have also been rutting in the townsite.

Was in drywood yesterday, pretty much everything is in, will post photos a little later. The accident was just by the gas station on the turn off to glenwood. Must have been pretty bad as a couple of rcmp cruisers ripped by just by standoff and it looked like there was quite a few emt and rcmp units on the scene already.

You must have driven by there right as I was coming home. I saw the cruiser drive by Standoff. I hear it was some Chief Moons who were driving drunk. One got taken to the hospital. Jenna was the name of one of the people, but I don't have a last name.
Did you see the Belly fire off in the distance? It was wild. It looked like something out of the 13th warrior.

Just before the chinook hit, I had a look at the trap line climbs (opposite Crandell lake turnoff). They were starting to come in. They were good enough for top rope. I am not sure what the weekend did to them though. Sounds like Drywood is the place to be - as usual for early season.
One of these years someone needs to pull off those big roofs. I don't know if Conny ever finished them or not.
Hey C. Goble,
What is the ice like in south drywood? It appears that ice forms below the bowl on the left? I didn't have bino's with me so I couldn't tell whether it was ice or snow. If it's ice then it's also in.
Cheers.

Probably ice. I have wandered up there a few times, but most things are a bit low angled. The new ice guide book has more info than I do. WIth the look of things from Drywood, it should be in good shape.
Sullivans also is looking similar to your pictures of Drywood.
