No Teton Pass this year

Ironically, I thought this was the year that I would make it down to Teton Pass to give the hill a try.  My telemark skills will up from last year and I thought I could give the terrain a go.  Turns out, they had insurance issues this season and will not open at all.

Bummer. I was hoping to get there during the Christmas break. It was a great hill for tele-skiing and the price couldn't be beat.

May have to try the hills down around Butte and south of great falls.

Bummer indeed,

Depending on how far they keep the road open, however, there is still some really nice backcountry skiing in the valleys south and west of the ski hill.

Also, my wife and I really enjoy skiing at Showdown, South of Great Falls: http://showdownmontana.com/
Lift tickets only $38. Also, the snow there in the Little Belt Mountains is amazinging and consistently deep there for some reason (and less wind blown than Teton Pass) - they already have 36" of snow there on the summit. There is also really nice backcountry skiing nearby, and a really nice groomed cross country ski area for track and skate skiing (Silvercrest ski area). Too bad there's not more ice climbing in the area.....
