Lineham Falls

Brett and i skied into Lineham today. The chinook that blew threw this week has left the ice on the left side in excellent condition. Well worth the 2 1/2 trip in. The ice on the right is really poor and had been poor all winter. Juste Nous Deux is in but thin, of course it's always thin and the shining is alright but the sun has been hitting it pretty hard.

Ice Conditions Wed Jan 24

I was in town the other day trying to get some work done on a video confercing and instructional design program for which I am consulting. While conditions are quite warm, the compund gullies all looked to be in decent shape. The top of the right line was still in and certainly climable. The slab and Kill Aisha were out. I would guess the climbs along Cameron should still be good. I will be down in the park this weekend and will try to update conditions if I can manage to get out.

Back from South America

Jill and I just returned after 3 1/2 weeks in South America. We had a very diverse trip, trekking, climbing, and cruising. We started by trekking the Inca trail to Machu Picchu in Peru, then climbed Cotopaxi and Chimborazo in Ecuador ( successful on Cotopaxi @ 19,347 Ft and turned back on Chimborazo around 19,600 Ft, 1100 Ft short of the 20,703 Ft summit), and 5 days in the Galapagos islands. You can check some of our photos out at http://community.webshots.com/user/java_jill .

How has the ice climbing and skiing been going?

Cheers. Scott

Ice Conditions January 21st

I was in Waterton over the weekend, doing some X-country skiiing and I noticed some climbers up on Quick & Dirty and Experts Choice. Thought I would post some pics for those that were interested in what kind of shape the ice is in.

Amazing Flickr shots

While browsing around at pictures of Waterton on Flickr, I came on a couple of truly amazing shots.

Larstrhow's pictures of waterton are amazing. Take a look at this one in front of the PW for example

I also liked this sunset picture of porcupine ridge or citadel spires.

Ice fest pics

It has been a while since the ice fest. Here are the pictures I took. Most of them just show the ice conditions that were quite good around the deviant. A new line or two looked like it could have been an option.

Holidays

It has been a while since I posted. I ended up going down to Zion's and Vegas over Christmas. The hiking in Zion's is amazing. There was about a foot of snow up on the Plateau of the West Rim. However the views were comensurately spectacular.

For a good trip I would snag a cheap flight to vegas, see a Cirque show, rent a car and drive to Zion's, hit the Subway from the top down or do an overnighter down the Narrows (Orderville Canyon).
