Waterton High Water

WIth record flows on the rivers right now, it looks like it will be a high water year for Waterton Lake. 15 or 20 years ago, it seemed like the lake was regularly flooding the penisula by Farmer's bay. However it has been a while since that last happened. I believe the 95 flood was the last time the water really got high.

With lots of low elevation snow still hanging around, and another week of rain ahead, I would be pretty sure we will have some substantial water levels in the townsite.

The boats in the marina have gotten moved and the lake front houses are flooding as usual. I am just getting ready to move all the important boxes off the ground in my basement.

Trips May 6 - May 13

I think I am still going to try to keep an open invite thread for trips. We do that kayaking and it is a nice way to meet a few more of the local players. For keeners, this also means no more lost weekends due to no partners. So, here is an open thread for this week's trips.

With climbing, I think the only way this will work is if there are:
1. NO expectations someone will bring gear for you
2. NO expectations others will set up ropes for you
3. NO expectations you will be shown how to climb
4. NO expectations people will change their planned routes to accommodate tag alongers.

What you might reasonably expect:
1. Someone to share the gas
2. Someone to talk to at the base of routes when cragging
3. Someone to hit Pizza joint with after a day's climbing

I think a workable philosophy would be - separate parties who just happen to be climbing in the same area and want to split burgers at the campfire.
