Thanks to Anne's organization, the Reel Rock Film Tour is coming to Lethbridge Alberta November 6 at 6pm at the UofL in PE275. This is the same weekend the Everest challenge is occurring at the wall. Its a good chance, not just to see some good films, but to get to know the faces from our local climbing community.
Ticket prices are: $7 for everest challenge participants $10 in advance at the UofL wall $12 at the door
In thinking about the annual ice opener, it just doesn't seem right to hold it after Christmas! Rolling the dice with chinooks is just part of the fun. With that in mind, take the poll to pick the date. Back up plans are rock climbing on the hump. Ice will be at Quick & Dirty, but if conditions are great we may take another poll to see about moving things to the Choice.
Unless Harms beats me to it, I think I take a BBQ up again. I'll bring some burgers, although I don't think anyone can beat Scott's hogies.
For new climbers, the gang usually sets up a few top ropes. If you haven't hit ice before, come on down, bring some ski boots whose back doesn't extend to far beyond the back lip of the sole, a harness and helmet. We usually share tools. People tend to show up at around 10am. We usually hit the Kilmorey for dinner, but will have to do the Lodge. I hear the pool is still open, so if the weather is good, think about bringing swim trunks and a tent so you can hit the hot tub and not have to worry about driving home while zonked. My back yard is open for tents.
Hemphill, if you're still around, give me an email cgoble72 gmail if you still have Austria Alpin demo tools you are interested in bringing out.
With the weather starting to get nice this weekend, it looks like some people are coming down to play on the Hump and the Info Bureau Sat and Sunday (April 25, 26). If anyone is interested, feel free to join in. Stop by Chris' place next to Tamarack mall Sat. night. There is space in the backyard for camping - but it may be damp. 859-2452
Chris Morris - hope you can make it out - Blair and Dave are heading up the Hump on Sunday.
I have been thinking of having a season opener party in April. I bought a new kayaking movie, and was thinking about asking around to see if someone has king lines. I thought if we get the kayaking and climbing crowds together, we should be able to get a big shin dig going. I am hoping to do host it on a Friday night and have a big BBQ. I am still trying to figure out the location and date. I have a projector and screen.
